ROLE: Innovation & Development Manager

REPORTS TO: Director of Innovation & Development

LOCATION: Annacis Island

We are looking for an Innovation & Development Manager to join our Innovation and Development team! Our Innovation and Development Manager is responsible for Earth’s Own Innovation, Product Improvement, and Cost Saving. We are looking for someone who has the passion and skill to be part of an exciting and progressive company and team.

Opportunities

This is a very exciting time for the Innovation and Development team as we continue to grow and expand! The main challenge is to liaise with Marketing, Operation, and Sales to develop new products (from idea generation to product launch) and develop next generation of plant based product. Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of Organic, Non-GMO & Kosher certification standards and requirements
• You have expert knowledge of Food labeling and other required regulations

Experience

• You have Minimum BSc in Food Science or related field (Masters preferred)
• You have at least 6 years of experience in product development in the dairy and/or related food industry
• You have strong industrial research and analytical skills

Nice-to-Have

• Strong ability to plan, develop and implement team-based systems

things you will do…

• Manage progression through milestones and execution of product development projects through designing experimental framework, building/ reviewing analytical data, developing validation SOPs and product specifications, and identifying potential challenges to management.
• Develop and execute an intellectual property program, set and manage targets for patent filings, fund applications, etc.
• Manage, develop, and coach team members; identify resources and build teams.
• Deliver cost-effective product formulations that are regulatory compliant and aligned with company values.
• Work closely with cross functional teams to expand our internal innovation.
• Research and collaborate with external research institutes or suppliers to deepen knowledge in plant-based fields; investigate new ingredients and technology.
• Apply knowledge of Health Canada and FDA regulations to conduct label reviews and resolve regulatory issues.
• Lead sensory evaluation and shelf-life study to support product launches and consistency.
• Work closely with QA and Operations teams to ensure the success of trials, product launches, and troubleshooting when necessary.
• Assist in application and maintenance of Organic, Kosher, and Non-GMO certification.
