Pacific Companies is seeking a Senior HR Generalist or HR Manager who serves as both a strategic leader and a driver of operational excellence within the Human Resources department. This senior-level role plays a critical part in developing and executing comprehensive HR initiatives that support organizational success, elevate employee engagement, and align with business goals.
The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership capabilities, extensive multi-state compliance knowledge, and a proven track record of managing complex HR programs across diverse business functions.
This role requires a visionary leader who can balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution, driving organizational change while maintaining operational excellence. The position demands expertise in leading cross-functional teams, managing complex vendor relationships, and leveraging advanced technology platforms to optimize HR delivery and enhance the overall employee experience. Responsibilities:
Leadership and Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Provide strategic guidance and expert consultation to department directors, company partners, and employee mentors on complex HR-related matters and organizational challenges
- Assist and/or Lead cross-functional projects and strategic initiatives to support organizational goals, serving as the HR representative on leadership teams and committees
- Assist and/or comprehensive HR strategies that align with business objectives, driving organizational effectiveness and competitive advantage
- Foster collaboration across departments and serve as HR liaison to executive leadership team
Talent Acquisition Support and New Hire Processing
- Collaborate strategically with TA Manager to enhance recruitment processes, providing senior-level HR expertise and driving improvements in candidate experience and hiring outcomes
- Oversee complex candidate experience initiatives, ensuring comprehensive support for benefits questions, detailed policy inquiries, compensation negotiations, and executive-level recruitment processes
- Lead development and negotiation of sophisticated offer letters and employment agreements, ensuring competitive positioning, legal compliance, and alignment with organizational goals
- Provide strategic oversight of new hire processing from Paycom ATS to Paycom onboarding platform, ensuring seamless transitions and exceptional candidate experience
- Ensure comprehensive and accurate new hire setup including precise job titles, competitive pay rates, appropriate workers compensation codes, ACA eligibility status, customized PTO accrual rates, and accurate payroll coding (bi-weekly/semi-monthly based on organizational requirements)
- Manage complex expense workflow configurations, multi-level approval hierarchies, and spending limit parameters for new employees across various role levels and departments
- Conduct strategic oversight of system configuration processes to ensure accuracy, compliance, and optimization of onboarding efficiency
- Monitor and analyze onboarding metrics, candidate feedback, and retention data to drive continuous improvement in the hiring and integration process
Employee Relations and Performance Management
- Track and manage quarterly and annual award winner programs, ensuring consistent recognition and communication across all department and locations
- Initiate and track all internal new hire feedback review processes at 30-day, 90-day, and 1-year intervals, coordinating with department directors, company partners, and mentors to optimize employee feedback
- Address complex and sensitive employee questions and concerns, serving as the primary escalation point for HR issues requiring senior-level intervention and resolution
- Lead comprehensive investigations into employee complaints, workplace issues, and policy violations, ensuring thorough documentation and fair resolution
- Direct conflict resolution efforts and disciplinary processes, providing coaching to managers and ensuring consistent application of company policies
- Maintain detailed documentation for all merit increases for administrative staff, ensuring accurate records for compliance, budgeting, and communication with leadership
- Manage performance improvement processes documentation and execution and provide strategic guidance to managers
Compliance and Risk Management
- Ensure comprehensive compliance with multi-state employment laws and regulations across all Pacific Companies locations, maintaining expert knowledge of evolving legislation and implementing proactive compliance strategies
- Lead policy development, updates, and implementation initiatives, ensuring alignment with legal requirements, best practices, and organizational objectives
- Conduct comprehensive HR audits and compliance reviews, developing systematic approaches to identify risks and implementing corrective actions
- Manage documentation requirements for terminations and other sensitive HR matters, ensuring legal compliance and minimizing organizational risk
- Draft comprehensive termination memos and lead termination meetings, providing expert guidance and ensuring proper procedures are followed
- Collaborate with leadership, legal counsel and external advisors on complex employment law matters, policy development, and risk mitigation strategies
HRIS and Payroll Management
- Provide strategic oversight of Paycom system administration and optimization across all modules, ensuring maximum utilization of system capabilities
- Ensure comprehensive data integrity and system security across all HR platforms through systematic audits, quality control processes, and security protocols
- Generate reports and analytics for leadership, providing strategic insights and metrics based on departmental needs
- Manage complex payroll-related inquiries and system issues, serving as escalation point for technical problems and vendor relations
- Oversee required state compliance training programs for employees and managers, ensuring optimal compliance with any and all state mandated requirements
- Train employees and managers on Paycom system usage and best practices for data entry and reporting
Strategic Communications and Program Management
- Coordinate comprehensive monthly communications of employee anniversaries and birthdays to the Marketing department, ensuring strategic integration with company culture and recognition initiatives
- Maintain PTO company calendars with strategic oversight to ensure accuracy, compliance, and optimal workforce planning across all departments
- Manage complex special projects and organizational change initiatives
Administrative Excellence
- Maintain comprehensive confidential employee records and ensure proper documentation standards, implementing systematic approaches to data management and security
- Oversee strategic exit interview processes and analyze feedback data to drive organizational improvements and enhance retention strategies
- Ensure seamless HR operations during peak periods, organizational changes, and critical business transitions through effective planning and resource management
- Assist with organizational development initiatives including employee engagement surveys, retention programs, and workplace culture enhancement efforts
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
- Minimum 5-7 years of progressive HR experience with proven track record in HR management
- Paycom system expertise required (including ATS, onboarding, and all HR Paycom modules)
- Extensive multi-state employment law knowledge and compliance experience required
- Proven experience with new hire processing and complex system configurations
- Proven track record in benefits administration and financial reconciliation
- Strong leadership and cross-functional collaboration capabilities
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Superior written and verbal communication abilities
- Experience managing complex employee relations issues
- Knowledge of workers compensation codes, ACA compliance, and payroll processing
Work Environment
- Pacific Companies offers a collaborative and dynamic work environment
- This is an onsite position, Monday through Friday
- Occasional travel may be required
